To all concerned,

The Huguenot Society Of America has the same qualifiers as the
National Huguenot Society. This includes the requirement that your religion
be commensurate with that of out ancestors.

The Society was founded on April 12, 1883. It's first President
was John Jay, a descendant of John Jay, first Supreme Court Chief Justice.

The purpose of the Society is to perpetuate the memories of our
ancestors and their cause, religious freedom.

The Society maintains a library relating to Huguenot history,
as well as a collection of relics. It also supports research in Huguenot
history and has a college grant program for the descendants of Huguenots who
meet the conditions of the Society.

Submission of an application must be accompanied by all
documentation needed by the Society's genealogist. It stands to reason that
the further away from the Huguenot ancestor you are there will be quite a bit
of proof in the form of birth, marriage and baptismal certificates.
Just having the name is inadequate for proof. You must also have a sponsor
from the Society. Afterwards your application will be forwarded to the
Council for preliminary approval. This will give it time to investigate
further. Usually a final approval is obtained at the next Council meeting.

If you need further information you may write to the Society at:

The Huguenot Society Of America
122 East 58th Street
New York, New York 10022
Attention: Ms. Dorothy Kimble

Those of you into genealogy will recognize the address as the headquarters of
the New York Genealogical And Biographical Society as well as the Holland
Society and a host of other lineage organizations

Robert Demarest Cuminale
Member Of The Council,
The Huguenot Society Of America
