Jenny,
We ought to be able to figure something out between the two items that
we have:
"From the south from 1720-1737, there crossed over the Santee River at
Lenud's Ferry into Williamsburg many French Hugeunots, who had fled in
1685 from the native land and after the Revocation of the Edict of
Nantes to Charlestown and had gradually gone Northward. Among these
were John Leger, Peter Lequeux, John Perret, Noah Pere, Henry Bedon,
James Sinclair, Abraham Perdeau, Henry Mouzon, Francis Lesesne,
Abraham Michau, Paul Jaudon, Peter Gourdin, Theodore Gourdin, James
Ferdon, Daniel Bluset, Abraham Lenud, Paul Bonneau, and Rene
Richbourgh."

I'm in the middle of moving right now and can't check the source of
this, but I will be unpacked by the middle of August and can follow up
on he source then.
My husband's line is the LEQUEUX in the group listed above. Note the
similarity in many of the names.

Subject: The frigate Richmond - Laussac Family

Hi Listers
Is there anyone who could help me with access to passenger records
(Laussac family) to South Carolina in the 1680s? Possibly on the
frigate Richmond. I have tried various websites without success.
There was a De Laussac family living in London during this period. My
earliest ancestor James Losack appears in St Kitts by 1728. I work
full time and live a long way from resources in London, (UK) time for
research is limited. Any internet help would be welcome.

My only information comes from a book
"Huguenot Ancestry" by Noel Currer-Briggs & Royston Gambier. 1985
Published by Phillimore & Co. Ltd. Shopwyke Hall, Chichester, Sussex,
UK
ISBN 0 85033 564 7

"Charles II urged the Huguenots of England to migrate to South
Carolina to grow grapes, olives and silkworms. This was one of many
attempts to grow these crops in the southern colonies, and French
vigerons from the Bordeaux region, and silkworm cultivators from Lyons
had been brought to Virginia in the 1620s, though none of their names
are known. In 1680 there was a large Huguenot emigration to
Charlestown, South Carolina, which grew to a flood after the
Revocation. This movement included the following families: Bayard,
Bonneau, Benoit, Bocquet, Bacot, Chevalier, Corde, Chastaquier, Dupre,
Deslisles, Dubose, Dutarques, de la Cousilliere, Dubouxdeiu,
Faysseaux, Gaillard, Gendron, Guignard, Horry, Huger, Legare,
Lauren(t), Lausac, Marion, Mazycq, Manigault, Mallichamp, Neuville,
Peronneau, Porcher, Peyre, Ravenel, Saint-Julien and Trevizant. They
were sent to produce wine and silk, many of them travelling on the
frigate Richmond.

Please let me know if you find any Laussac family during your
researches

Many thanks

Jenny
