hi, i probably shouldn't weigh in here, I hope i don't get flamed -

i agree with David Brew. A few months ago my CSA History List at Rootsweb
received an abrupt rude message from the rootsweb admin, Linda, that the
list was discontinued because the messages did not have enough genealogy
content. My list wasn't ever intended to be just genealogy, but a social
science list that is - a compilation of disciplines - revolving around the
War between the States, the early pioneering and culture of the
South. Rootsweb has many different list of all kinds not just genealogy, I
started the list 4 years ago. Rootsweb has changed their attitude since
Ancestry.com took over.

The very day that message hit the list with over 250 subscribers i was
locked out of the subscription list, and the archives were erased that
night and the list was gone. I still have two surname list i maintain as
list admin, but needless to say I am not a happy camper.
