I may have mentioned this before, but the name could also stem from
"D'Ozier" a not too common name from France, meaning (I think) weaver of
wicker or something like that. Better left to a person who really speaks
the language.
The S. C. Doziers I am familiar with are reported to have come from the
immigrants who lived in Virginia.

There were a lot of DOZIERs in the South Carolina Low Country --- could
that be a corruption of DeLOZIER?
