Hi Joan - This is probably of little help to you, but I have that Frances
Williams married Michael Delaney, probably in Charleston in the early 1800s.
She was a daughter of Benjamin Williams and Ann Simpson, and was born in
1785 in Brunswick Co., NC, most likely in Smithville/ Southport. Michael
was a bar pilot in Charleston in the early 1800s, as was Frances' brother,
Simpson Williams.
I have no idea about any children of Michael and Frances Williams Delaney. I
have a note that Michael's will was probated 20 Jan 1840. He must have died
between 1837 or 1838 and 1840, as his name disappears from the Charleston
City directories, and Frances Delany's [sic] name appears with, her sister,
Susan Williams, and mother, Ann Williams.
I found two other Delaneys/ Delanys in the city directories in the same
period - Daniel Delany, a house carpenter in St. Philips in 1807; and Ann
Delaney, a widow and seamstress in 1819 and 1822
A sister of Frances, Mary, married John Anderson, and several of their
daughters married bar pilots and seamen, and lived in Charleston.
Ben Williams and John Anderson are my ancestors.
