Tracey:

I hope you are feeling alot better today.

You probably are aware that I have a son (Brian) who has just been married
for a year and I am wondering if he could possibly be a carrier of Hypo.
Both Brian and my daughter (Diane) have no signs of having the disease. My
daughter is not married. Is there a procedure (blood testing) to see if
Brian could be a carrier? My son is a diabetic who is taking insulin. Even
though my sister was a diabetic, he still feels that he may not have
inherited diabetes. He does not seem to be concerned that maybe he could be
a carrier of Hypophosphatasia. Dr. Cole has mentioned that he is willing to
test both Brian and his wife Vickie but I think that Brian feels that it is
for research only. And he seems, for some reason, to be very wary of the
whole thing. If blood testing shows that one has low alkaline phosphatase
values, but not the disease itself, does this mean that one is a carrier?
This may seem like a very silly question but I feel that I must, in some
way, pressure my son to get tested. I, however, don't want to put a double
load on him with having to be concerned with both the diabetes and the hypo.
I would appreciate your input on this.

Dana:

I noticed in your e-mail to Christy that you have written to the OI
Foundation. Would you explain what the OI stands for and just what this
foundation is all about. Is their e-mail address

Thanks loads, both of you.

Marge
