Just to get a point of reference, I looked in 1880 for the two brothers.
You may already have this.
1880 District 184, Eagle Point, Chippewa, WI
Lubach, William, married age 25 b. GER, parents b. GER
Lubach, Hannah, wife, age 20 b. WI, parents b. GER

1880 Auburn, Fond du Lac, WI
Lubach, Charles, age 26 b. PRU
Catharina, wife age 23 b. WI
Charles, age 2 b. WI
Lena, dau age 8 months b WI
Guth, Liny, sisterL, age 9 b. WI

I am using the index thru HeritageQuest. This index doesn't show what you
have already found. I am not finding Lewis Backhous in 1870 WI.

I don't find William or Charles in 1870 in WI or IA. Wish I could been of
help,
Sandra Van Wyk
