The other thing you might try, if you haven't already, is to order the
Military Service Records for C. J. Brower from the National Archives. These
records would have information specifically on the military service of Brower
during the war. You can order these forms online by contacting the National
Archives at and requesting NATF Form 86 (for military
service records), which they will then mail to you. In your request for the
form, you need to provide them with the number of forms you want (one for
each soldier request), and include your name and full mailing address. But
sure to tell them that you need NATF Form 86. You can also request the forms
via mail through: National Archives and Records Administration, Attn: NWDT1,
700 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20408-0001.
The cost for a set of these records is $17.00 but if they find nothing on the
soldier, there is no cost to you. Most of the records I've ordered have
contained a lot of very useful information.
