Richard,

That letter has to be one of the most romantic and sad things I have
ever read and the last three paragraphs give me goosebumps.

I first heard it when Ken Burns was doing his Civil War Specials. Since
then I have found it in his book "The Civil War". Sullivan Ballou died
at the first battle of Bull Run.
