I checked the Iowa rosters and found Charles Toney and both Overockers
serving in Co. F, 12th Iowa Volunteer Infantry:

Company F, 12th Iowa Infantry:

Charles B. Toney, born in Iowa, was 20 years old when he enlisted Sept. 24,
1861, mustering Oct. 26, 1861. His residence was listed as Manchester
[Delaware County]. He was reported missing in battle on April 6, 1862, at Shiloh, TN.
He died July 24, 1862, at Macon, GA, and is buried in the National Cemetery
at Macon.

Elijah N. Overocker, a native of Michigan, was 18 and living in Manchester
when he enlisted Sept. 16, 1861, and mustered Oct. 26, 1861. He was reported
missing in action April 6, 1862, at Shiloh, TN. He died May 20, 1862, at
Montgomery, AL.

James H. Overocker, also born in Michigan, was 19 and living in Manchester
when he enlisted Sept. 19, 1861, and mustered Oct. 26, 1861. It simply states
that he was discharged, with no dates nor further information.

[all three served as Privates]

Company B, 37th Iowa Infantry:

Sebert Toney, born in Virginia, was 54 when he enlisted Sept. 16, 1862, as
First Corporal, and mustered Nov. 6, 1862. His residence was listed as
Muscatine [Muscatine County]. On Jan. 1, 1864, he was promoted to Fifth Sergeant. He
mustered out May 24, 1865, at Davenport, Iowa.

This information was taken from: "Roster and Records of Iowa Troops in the
Rebellion, Vols. I-VI." Civil War and Iowa: Greyhounds and Hawkeyes. CD-ROM.
Creston, IA: O. J. Fargo, 2000.

Information on the 12th Iowa Infantry appears in Volume II. Information on
the 37th Iowa Infantry can be found in Volume V.

There is no charge for looking up information. Hope some of this information
proves helpful to you. I might also mention that I found 7 Overackers listed
in the Iowa Rosters, two of them also coming from Michigan. Should you like
this information, let me know.
