I found a George McKay in Co. D, 3rd Iowa Volunteer Infantry:
McKay, George. Age 24. Residence Frankville, nativity Michigan. Enlisted May
20, 1861, as First Sergeant. Mustered June 8, 1861. Discharged Dec. 8, 1863,
for promotion.
Serving in the same company and regiment as George McKay was a Cyrus McKay:
McKay, Cyrus. Age 36. Residence Decorah, nativity Pennsylvania. Enlisted May
20, 1861, as Fifth Sergeant. Mustered June 8, 1861. Discharged June 7, 1862,
St. Louis, Mo., for disability.
A Francis McKay of Oskaloosa, Iowa, served in Co. H and Co. C of the same
regiment.
I found George W. McKay serving with Company F, 9th Iowa Volunteer Cavalry.
McKay, George W. Age 26. Residence Frankville. Appointed First Lieutenant
Nov. 30, 1863. Mustered Nov. 30, 1863. Resigned July 17, 1865.
Frankville is in Winneshiek Co., Iowa, in the far NE corner of the state,
bordering Minnesota.

Would anyone have information on the following;
George McKAY 3rd regiment Iowa Infantry-Frankville Iowa
George W. McKay 9th Cavalry-Frankville Iowa.
I suspect one of the above George's may have been born in Livingston
County, NY and the Father may have been James D McKay also from NY.
Thanks,
Rick Porter
