If it would be possible for someone to check the pension records at the
National Archives for this John T. Fisher, 16th Iowa Infantry, it might/should be
possible to determine if this is the one who married Elizabeth Cooper Fisher.

Well, Dean and Sue, and all -- I eventually did find the following at
Ancestry.com. Looks to me like it may be the same fellow listed in some
other data bases as John "T." ...

Name: John F. Fisher
Company: H
Unit: 16 Iowa Infantry.
Rank - Induction: Private
Rank - Discharge: Private
Allegiance: Union

Unfortunately, no other info was given.

If Elizabeth filed for a widow's pension, it is does not appear to be listed
at Ancestry.com. Lots of Fishers but not the right one.
