I have yet to find David in 1870 but in 1880 he and "Sarah A." were in Slate Creek tnp., Josephine County in Oregon. They are alone except for a 10-year-old child named Ida Wildy (or Mildy?) who is identified as a "servant." Little Ida was born in Idaho Territory but her parents were from Iowa. Maybe a family connection. The pension application remains elusive. Not every Civil War vet or widow filed for a pension.
