I have been looking into a Charles Marshall family from Adams co., Iowa c. 1852 to early 1860's. The family consisted of wife Nancy Jane(Colvin) Marshall. Known children are Mahala, Mary P and Joseph W. Charles was an imigrant from France, but I think he might have served in the civil war from Adams Co., Iowa. The whole family disappears by 1870. How do I go about figuring out what units were formed from Adams co., Iowa? and how to find out if he was on a muster list?
