According to the /Roster and Record of Iowa Troops In the Rebellion,
Vol. 3/:
Dawson, John. Age 18. Residence Jefferson, nativity England.
Enlisted Jan. 18, 1864. Mustered
Jan. 28, 1864. Transferred to Company C, Twelfth Infantry, July 13,
1865.
And regarding his subsequent service in the 12th Iowa Infantry:
Dawson, John. Age 18. Residence Jefferson, nativity England.
Enlisted Jan. 18, 1864. Mustered
Jan. 20, 1864. Mustered out Jan. 20, 1866, Memphis, Tenn. See
company C, Twenty-seventh
Infantry.
