The historices of Northeast Iowa and southeastern Wisconsin are intertwined
historically. The Wisconsin State Histoical Society has a large
genealogical collection and an on-line searchable catalog. The following is
taken from their webpage:
The Library collects genealogical and local history publications for the
U.S. and Canada; it has no European materials and does not collect
manuscript or unpublished material. Strengths of the collection include
about 20,000 booklength family histories, population schedules for all U.S.
censuses, nearly all vital records for Wisconsin before 1907, and
microforms of major genealogical collections from other institutions.
