The Wednesday July 9, 1924, Waukon Republican Standard newspaper (Allamakee
County) reads:

DOROTHY McLAUGHLIN**

After a lingering illnes of several months Dorothy Marie McLaughlin passed
away to her eternal home on Wednesday, July 2, at the home of her father,
John McLaughlin of Untion Prairie township.

Deceased was born in this county and would have reached her 18th birthday
on the 20th of this month. She attended the Waukon High School and was
loved by all her classmates.

She is survived by her father, sister, and brother*. Her mother having
preceeded her in death only a few months. The bereaved family have the
suympathy of all in their great sorrow.

Funeral was held Friday afternoon from the Hanover church with requiem
mass by Rev. Father Reynolds and burial took place in the Hanover cemetery.

*should be sisters and brothers.
**Her full name was Dorothy Marie McLaughlin, but she went by Marie.
