I am copying and sending along this reaction to all those boards in Texas. I
don't like them myself even before this lastest. Is it any better in Iowa?
Sibyl in Texas

Taken from the TEXGEN list:

I too am OUTRAGED at the abuse of RootsWeb and Ancestry.com
... nothing in their announcements indicated they would be
co-mingling query and data boards ...

We had over 3,500 queries and obituaries on the Milam County,
Texas GenWeb Page (for URL see signature at bottom of this
e-mail) ... and it is now all a mess with RootsWeb queries,
MyFamily.com queries, Ancestry.com queries and all six data
boards ...

You cannot tell query from data ...

However the MOST IMPORTANT event is that Board Adm. are NO
LONGER able to edit queries and postings ... wo NO LONGER
have control over our boards ... again, nothing in their
annoucements indicated that would happened ...

Since midnight last night, I have had over 100 e-mails
BLASTING RootsWeb and Ancestry.com ...

Today, they have done a MAJOR disadvantage to genealogy
research ... for example, if you are researching the surname
WILLIAMS in Milam Co., you'll get OVER 125 responses on
the Milam County Message Board alone ...

In response to RootsWeb's and Ancestry.com's abuse, I have
placed a DISCLAIMER on my Milam County TXGenWeb and San
Jacinto County TXGenWeb pages announcing the DISASTER ...
I will NOT be responsible for this mess and DISTRUCTION
of the queries and data we have worked YEARS TO entered onto
our pages ...

This is a BLACK day in genealogy research ...
