CHAS. EWING DROPPED DEAD AT NOON TODAY

Was at home of brother, Lafe Ewing, S W of Waukon

Chas. Ewing dropped dead about noon today at the home of his brother, Lafe Ewing, living SW of Waukon about 7 miles, the cause of death being apoplexy.

Coroner Huecker and Sheriff Hall were called there about noon but found nothing to command their services in the matter and the body was turned over to Undertaker Martin and the relatives for burial.

Mr. Ewing was a man of about 66 years and was staying at the home of his brother Lafe. He has a brother Austin in Waukon.

Charles W. Ewing

Charles W. Ewing was born May 2, 1859 in Allamakee County, Iowa and died April 6, 1927 at the home of Lafe Ewing of Ludlow. He was the son of Thomas G. and Elizabeth Ann Ewing.

He was married to Missouri Webster New Year's day 1883 at Frankville, Iowa. To this union were born one son, Frank T. Ewing of Caledonia, Minnesota and one daughter, Mrs. Martin Hagen of Waterloo, Iowa. He spent most of his life in Allamakee County except for a few years in Nebraska.

He leaves to mourn his loss 2 children, Frank T. of Caledonia and Mrs. Martin Hagen of Waterloo, Iowa, 5 grandchildren, 4 brothers and 2 sisters, John T. Ewing of Ossian; Austin, Egbert, Lafe Ewing of Waukon, Mrs. Thomas Paul, Mason City and Mrs. Amos Haslip, Decorah.

Funeral services were held April 9 at the Lafe Ewing home at 10 o'clock at Evergreen School House at 11 o'clock by Rev. Krebs. Burial in Smith Cemetery.
