RITES HELD FOR MRS. EDA MEYER HERE FRIDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Eda Meyer were held on Friday, June 15, 1956, at 1:30 from the Schutte Funeral Home and 2:00 from St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Postville. The Rev. Charles E. Witt officiated at the services. Burial was in Postville Cemetery.

Mrs. Eda Meyer (Eda Reincke) was born October 25, 1873 in Germany, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Reincke. At the age of nine, she came to this country with her parents. They settled near Farmersburg, and some time later they moved to Postville where she spent the remainder of her life.

She was confirmed on March 25, 1888 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church by the Rev. John Gass. She was married to William C. Meyer on October 13, 1892. After their marriage, they farmed near Postville.

Following her husbands death, she remained on the farm for several years after which she moved to Postville where she lived until the time of her death. Mrs. Meyer was a charter member of the Women's organization of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, having been awarded a 50 year membership pin several years ago.

To this union were born five children, three of whom survive, Victor and Milo of Postville and Clarence of Rock Island, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, Arno and Alvin, one sister, Anna Saueresig, and one brother, Arthur.

She leaves to mourn her passing her three sons, Milo, Victor and Clarence, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Krogman, of Postville and Mrs. Amelia Willman of Postville; two brothers, Charles Reincke and Fred Reincke of Postville; ten grandchildren, and many great grandchildren, in addition to numerous other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Meyer was confined to her bed at the home of her youngest son, Milo, since the latter part of October 1954, when she fell and suffered from a broken hip.

She passed away at her home on June 13, 1956 at 12:30 a.m. at the age of 82 years, seven months and 19 days.
