I may be going out on a limb here, since the info I have is in Michigan, not Iowa, but here goes.

Buried in the Lewiston Cemetery is a SHERBONDA. The tombstone reads:

SHERBONDA
JAKE MARY B.
Sept. 6, 1889 Aug. 11, 1889
March 10, 1960 Sept. 19, 1978

I'm not sure if this helps, but I hope so.
