Although most of my research does not center on Allamakee Co., Iowa, I did
grow up there in Waukon, Harpers ferry and Lansing. I have hundreds of
Walleser and Hammell relatives there and couldn't chose a more beautiful
place to live. Wish I lived there now but.... There are many days I yearn
for the peace and quiet and a restful walk in the hills or in the canoe
floating down the Upper Iowa river. Anyway I have to agree with Sharyl that
Allamakee county is a place worth visiting. The people are some of the Best!
