Looking for leads on descendents and relations of Martha Jane Mitchell, b.
16 November 1839, in Ohio (probably Harrison County), d. 17 June 1886 and
buried in Mitchell (Mitchell Grove) Cemetery, 614 V Street, Jackson
Township, Boone, Iowa.

She was the daughter of William Mitchell and Mary Anne Atkison. Martha Jane
Mitchell married Robert Jack Gasaway on 15 September 1863 in Jasper County,
Iowa, U.S.A.;
Children of Martha Jane Mitchell and Robert Jack Gasaway
Irene Gasaway b. s 1865. Irene married a John Zenor.
Mary E. Gasaway b. c 1866
Lucy Gasaway b. c 1868
Robert Gasaway b. 5 Nov 1870, d. 11 Apr 1881 (buried Mitchell Cemetery,
Boone Co)

Spelling may be Cassaway, Gassaway. Robert Gassaway and Martha Jane Mitchell
were in Boone County in the 1880 census, but have not found much
subsequently. I have photo album of Martha Jane Mitchell's sister, Eliza
Mitchell (1851-1927), which has pictures of
1. "Will Gassaway" (supposedly a "nephew" of my Eliza Ellen Mitchell, with
unnamed woman, probably a wife) taken by photographer Boone & Ames Iowa;
2. "Aunt Amanda (probably, Nancy Amanda Mitchell Gregg 1858-1898 who was
sister of Martha Jane and Eliza Jane Mitchell) and Rene Zenor", taken by
photographer Boone & Ames Iowa. It appears that Nancy Amanda Mitchell Gregg
may have informally adopted Rene Gassaway Zenor as a young adult as they
appear together in two separate pictures taken at different times;
3. Fred Zenor appears to be about age 10 years;
as well as other unknowns.

The Mitchell cemetery is not far from the now abandoned ghost town of
Zenorsville, IA. Based on some of the photographers, I assume some of the
Gassaway's and Zenor's may have moved to Ames/Des Moines area, but they have
been elusive.

I would like to learn/confirm if "Will" Gassaway was son of Robert and
Martha Jane Gassaway, whether or not Rene Zenor was a sister of Will, if
Fred Zenor was the son of Rene, and what happened to Robert Jack Gasaway and
his son, Robert Gasaway, etc.

More details on my lines and other Boone County families at
