Subject: [IABREMER-L] Cemeteries of Bremer County
Date: Fri, 11 Jul 2003 13:51:40 -0500
As I stated last night, I have some questions about the Bremer County
cemeteries that I would like clarification on.
1. On the United States Geological Survey, there are two cemeteries listed
I am not familiar with.
A. Frederika Township Cemetery - It is located on 130 Street near
Piedmont.
B. Warren Cemetery - It is located on Garden Avenue near 212 Street
I have matched up all the cemeteries from the 1983 and 1996 cemeteries to
the list on the USGS web site except these two cemeteries.
2. There are a few cemeteries I would like more information about. If you
have any knowledge of them, please let me know.
City (abandoned) - located in/near Waverly
Leamon (private) - located in/near Plainfield
Lease Estate (private) - located in/near Sumner
St Paul's Lutheran - located in/near Sumner (I have an address but cannot
get the address mapped on Map Quest), information on the cemetery from the
1985 history says it is located southeast of Waverly
Syracuse (abandoned) - located in/near Plainfield
Town Line (abandoned) - located in/near Waverly
3. In the 1996 cemetery book, Lutheran Cemetery of Sumner is listed. This
cemetery does not appear in the 1983 book. Does anyone know if this is a
new cemetery or was it accidentally left out of the 1983 book?
4. St John's Lutheran Cemetery in Sumner is listed in the 1996 cemetery
book with an address of 1255 Yuma. I was unable to get this cemetery mapped
through Map Quest despite having an exact address. I was able to get it
mapped on the United States Geological Society but was wondering why Map
Quest didn't recognize the address.
5. I was wondering if anyone has an address for St. John's Spring Fountain
Church or the cemetery. I have never been able to find an address or a
phone number. The cemetery was not listed in the 1996 book. Is this church
still holding services and is the cemetery still doing burials?
6. Does anyone have an address for Union Mound Cemetery? It was able to
get it mapped on USGS but there is no address listed in the 1996 cemetery
book.
