I have family that hasbeen in the area for many years and I forwarded your request to him and this is wha the sent. Hope it helps.
The corner of 3 and 63 was known as Dead Mans Corner for as long as I can remember. Probably in the 80's Rex Bales bought the property on both sides of 63 on the south of the intersection. There was a nice restaurant at the time. I think the gas station had been closed. He moved a big two story house. Moved dirt for a race track. Then the highway was to be made a 4 lane. I do not know what he wanted, but the state would not agree. It finally went to court and he lost. They shut him off and did not give and access. That is as far as it ever got. There was a summer vegetable stand on the northwest corner. Now there a state scale on the northeast corner.
