Your research is probably already complete, but just another fact about "Dead Man's Corner" There were actually 2 big 2-story buildings moved in. They were the original housing units from the Bremer County Home which is a couple of miles north of there off Hwy 63. I am not sure what he had in mind to do with them but they sat there unused and falling apart for many years. In the same area, just north of the intersection, and across the bridge was a modern gas station that was open for several years. And north of that was the "town" called Artesian. When I was growing up, mid-50's it had a creamery and a general store/feed store.
