Subject: Martin Fuhrman and Patrick Maloney family research
My name is Sheryl Rash and I am interested in getting family information, particularly regarding my great grandfather, and his father - both named Martin Fuhrman. I understand that there is a $10 fee per hour, and I am willing to pay for your services and copies. I would ask that you log the time spent please as you go along so I know if it is getting outside of my abilities to pay.
Martin Fuhrman Sr. was born in 1814 (No full date known) in Hungary of German decent. It may be that it was actually Austro-Hungary at the time. He married Barbara Barack. It is family thought that he and his son Martin Jr. fled to America because of political reasons, but there is no substantiation to that. We have no information on Barbara. Also we have no place of death or date or burial for Martin Sr. It was just stated that he moved to the "Black Hills" and that is where he died.
Martin Fuhrman Jr. was born in 1845 in Hungary. (No full date known)
Martin Sr. and Jr. came to the US in 1958, settling first in Indiana and later in Independence, Iowa.
I find both Martins in the 1870 Fed census in the County of Buchanan, IA, page 533 of Perry township with ID#.s IA018126911 and IA018126912. I would like to have a copy of this page with their information.
Two really important pieces of information we are looking for, is port of entry and where in Hungary they came from and where they were born. Were there any other children left in the old country.
Martin Jr. married Mary N. Maloney (b.11/25/1856) in IA we think. She was the daughter of Patrick Maloney and his wife Mary Murray, supposedly well to do farmers that lived 5 miles from Independence. I also have a 1860 and 1870 Fed census for Patrick. 1860 Patrick Maloney, Buchanan, IA, Page 567, Washington Township. ID# IA2311039. Then the 1870 Census is, Patrick Maloney, Buchanan, IA, Page 534, Perry Township, ID#IA0182290. I would like to have copies of these pages if possible.
Mary and Martin Fuhrman Jr. eventually came to the Northwest to settle and we have their history from that point on. It is the early history we are missing so that we can track the Fuhrman family in particular back to Hungary or Germany, wherever. Martin Jr. died in Goldendale, Washington on 12/28/1904 and is buried at Mt View Cemetery in Goldendale. Mary Maloney Fuhrman died in 1925 and is buried in the same cemetery.
I am certainly not opposed to any information about the Maloney family as well.
I appreciate your help in this matter and look forward to working with you. If there is anything that I have forgotten to give you that you might need from me, please don't hesitate to call/email, etc. I have only 2 aunts and 1 uncle left to retrieve info from. They are children of James Daniel Fuhrman, son of Martin Jr.. My Mother, Maxine Marie Fuhrman, was also a child of James and granddaughter to Martin Jr. She died 5/21/2000.
MARTIN Jr. married Mary N. Maloney on August 244, 1873, probably in Independence. They were of the Catholic faith.
Most sincerely,
Sheryl Rash
