Hi,
I'm new to this list. In researching my Lewis line found that my gg grandfather's sister Sophronia Lewis (b. 1825 Hancock, NY) married John Norwood in Hancock, New York. From various census reports I found that Sophronia and John Norwood and their children Phebe D., Richard H., Sally Ann, Laura S., Andrew H. and Wilson C. Norwood moved to Chickasaw Township, Chickasaw County, Iowa sometime between 1863 and 1870. They appeared in the 1870 Chickasaw Township census along with Sophronia's mother Sarah Lewis.

By 1880 the father John Norwood and 3 sons had moved to Blaine Township, Antelope Co., Nebraska. Sophronia (Lewis) Norwood and her mother Sarah Lewis did not appear on the 1880 census so I'm assuming the two of them died sometime between 1870 and 1880. I'd really like to find death and/or burial records for the two of them in Chickasaw Co. Does anyone have a book or anything that could do a lookup for me to see if they see these two women? Sophronia Lewis Norwood was born 1825 and her mother Sarah Lewis was born around 1797. I'd appreciate any help anyone could give me with this.

Also - during that time period they seemed to be about the only Norwood family living in the Chickasaw Township area. If there are still any Norwoods located in that vicinity - they might be descendants from this same line. I'd love to hear from anyone else researching the Norwood/Lewis line. They are probably my "cousins"! Thanks so much.
