LAST RITES HELD FOR CLYDE HEALD
Pallbearers for the funeral services at The Chenoweth Funeral home on Friday
afternoon for the late Clyde Heald were: Hugh McIlroy, L. Trusty, Herman
Ransom and Lew Schoenfeld, all of Ionia, Herbert Prudhon and Fred Jordan of
Nashua. Rev. F. L. Hanscom was the officiating minister, and burial was in
Greenwood cemetery at Nashua. The Misses Edna and Jennie Heald of Minneapolis
arrived in Nashua for the funeral of their brother, and are guests in the E.
G. Meiers home.
Clyde Herbert Heald, son of John and Lydia Billings Heald, was born at
Bradford, June 15, 1867. Here he grew to manhood and was educated in the
public schools and the Bradford Academy, and for the greater part of his life
he resided in Chickasaw county. In 1891 he was united in marriage to Emma
Danna {sic}. They established their home in Ionia, where he was engaged in
blacksmithing for many years. Later he purchased a farm south of Ionia, and
until his retirement a few years ago he was a successful and influential
farmer, serving several terms as president of the Chickasaw County Farm Bureau
Federation.
He was a man of strong Christian faith and a member of the Ionia
Congregational church. He is survived by his wife, Almira Wesp Heald, now
confined to a hospital in Pontiac, Mich., also two sisters, the Misses Edna
and Jennie Heald of Minneapolis; and two nieces, daughters of Warren H. and
Alena Heald Smith.
(Note for information of the reader: Clyde Heald's first wife, Emma Dana
Heald, died September 15, 1923. Clyde Heald and Almira Johnston Wesp were
married on October 1, 1924, in Northfield, Minn. Almira died in 1950.)
