OBITUARY:

SARAH COVINGTON, the subject of this notice was born in Burbon County,
State of Kentucky on the l2th day of July, l8l4.

In her l6th year she emigrated with her parents to Illinois, settling at
Bloomfield. She was united in marriage to B.H. COVINGTON in her 20th
year, on August 27th, l835, at her home in Bloomfield. Here also she
professed a hope in Christ and united with the Baptist Church in her
20th anniversary, of which denomination she has been a consistent member
ever since.

She came to Knoxville, Marion County, Iowa, in l850. She and her
husband moved to Decatur County in the year l854 and settled at Decatur
City. B.H. COVINGTON, her husband, died at his home in Decatur City,
March l0th, l86l, leaving SISTER COVINGTON and 7 children.

She became a member of the Palestine Baptist Church, 3 miles west of
Leon, about the time this church was organized, and of which she has
remained a devoted and consistent member until the Master she loved and
served so well said, "It is enough, now rest from thy labor and care and
thy work shall follow thee." She died at her home l/2 mile south of
Decatur City on the 3rd day of January, l886. She was for days before
death fully composed and resigned to the Lord's will, was happy in the
prospect of sweeping soon through death's door to meet the Savior in the
bright realms above. No one who knew SISTER COVINGTON would doubt for a
moment her final destiny and reward.

She leaves 3 children, a beloved sister, MRS. I.N. CLARK, and many
beloved friends to mourn her loss. In the absence of the minister she
desired to preach her funeral, the services will yet be attended to at
the proper time when the weather is pleasant in the spring at the
Palestine Church.
