TICK RIDGE:
The aged mother of Mrs. W.A. ROSS is quite feeble.
The many friends of D.C. ROSS will be sorry to know of his dangerous
illness at his home in Hepney, Oregon.
MRS. JOSEPH CULVER and son HARRY, have been, and IRA CULVER was very
sick a few days, but all are convalescent.
MISS EMMA KELLOGG will go to Clyde, Ohio this week, as her grandmother,
MRS. H.N. KELLOGG will go home by St. Louis.
Since our last the sympathies of our community have been enlisted in
anxities(sic) highest joy, then down to the deepest sorrow.
It is reported that REV. DANIEL WINTERS died and was buried at Peoria,
his late home on Sunday week. Will get particulars and report.
Words are inadequate to express an iota of the grief for the death of
MS. I.N. PHERRIN. She was a most estimable lady, loving wife and
mother. If deep feeling and sympathy could help the stricken family,
their suffering would be much lessened. Once in a while such an extreme
circumstance occurs, a mother leaving a husband and eight children.
When it does, it leaves hearts sore for this life. How could it be
endured if in this life only, we had hope?
The drowning of MRS. MATTIE WILSON nee LORD, is a great affliction for
the MCKIBBEN family, also to many others who enjoyed her acquaintance
here during her visits with her mother, to her aunt, MRS. MCKIBBEN, the
sad catastrophe brings gloom. Springfield, Illinois papers give
detailed accounts. What wonder that the bridegroom of four months who
vainly tried to save her from a watery grave, should be wild with grief.
The room in which she was married was made a "bower of flowers" and her
loved form dressed in her bridal robes. REV. DR. JOHNSON conducted the
funeral services, and also officiated at their marriage. MRS. WILSON
was 26 years of age, an only child of a widowed mother. MRS. LORD and
MR. WILSON narrowly escaped death. EVERETT WILSON is connected with
Armour & Co., Chicago. MRS. LORD is with him at his home there. MISS
MATTIE MCKIBBEN went to Springfield immediately, and is at present
visiting with other relatives at Chicago.
