OBITUARY:

On the 8th of October, l886, ELIZABETH PIERCY departed this life after a
protracted illness of over one year. Yet she bore her affliction
without murmuring or complaining but very little. Yet yer suffering was
very severe most of the time, until a very short time before she died,
she became apparently easy and passed away without a struggle.

She professed religion when quite young and united with the Methodist
Episcopal Church and lived a Christian life for about sixty years and
died in the full assurance of faith.

ELIZABETH SCOTT PIERCY was born on the 29th of August, l803, in Wayne
County, Kentucky, and was raised there, and married to NATHAN PIERCY on
the 7th day of March, l826; and then emmigrated to Morgan County,
Illinois and left Illinois in the fall of l853, coming to this county
and remaining here the rest of her stay on earth.

She was the mother of twelve children, six of them living. Six of her
children and her husband have gone on before to the land of spirits.
Two of her sons and a daughter lives in this county yet. One son in
Kansas, one in Illinois, one in Harrison County, this State. She has
made her home for some years with her daughter, SARAH F. GATES, who
cared for her in her last illness very tenderly and affectionately.
