MARTIN RAY has purchased the half interest in the Van Wert Enterprise of
W.R. NANCE. The Enterprise will hereafter be edited by WATKINS & RAY,
who will keep it up to its present high standard. MR. RAY is a Leon
boy, and was for several years compositor on the Leon Reporter, where he
learned his chosen trade. We wish the new firm much success.

JAMES HARRISON, of the Q, made the first effort Saturday to prevent the
boys from riding between the Q. and D.M. & K.C. stations, by collecting
fare. HARRISON had laid in a good supply of pennies, so as to be able
to accommodate all who hadn't the proper change. It is three-quarters
of a mile between the stations and a fare of three cents was collected
with an additional ten cents for paying on the train, thus making the
fare one way thirteen cents--mountain rates. This is a very proper move
on the part of the officials. Boys board the train and occupy the
seats, leaving the passengers standing in the aisle. It is not
necessary to mention the fact that the boys who paid the fare down,
walked slowly back.
