Decatur County Journal
June l6, l898

Died, at his home in Richland Township, this county, Saturday, May 2l,
l898, LEVI LOCKIN, in the 58th year of his age.

The deceased was one of our best citizens and was highly respected by
all who knew him. Was born in Ampworth, Germany, in l84l, and came to
this country with his parents when four years old, and settled at
Kenosha, Wis. Here he married MISS MARGARET HENDERSON in l856, and
moved to Iowa in l868, and to Gray County in l885, settling where he
resided at the time of his death.

The deceased served the Union cause in the civil war, and was an active
member of the G.A.R., having been Post Commander of the post here last
year. One of his last requests was that the flag should be wrapped
around his remains and be buried with him.

The funeral services were held at the M.E. Church in this city Monday,
May 23, and conducted by Rev. Kingery, the Presbyterian Minister, after
which he was given a soldier's burial by his comrades of Captain Hudson
Post, G.A.R.

The deceased leaves a wife and five children to mourn his departure, who
have the sympathy of a large circle of friends in their bereavement.
