IRA B. AKERS, son of THOMAS M. and CLARA E. AKERS, was born in Decatur
County, Iowa, Sept. l, l882, and died at his home near Decatur, April
25, l903, aged 20 years, 7 months and 24 days.

IRA was greatly devoted to the welfare of his parents and brothers and
sisters from boyhood. The one great object in his life was to take as
much of the cares of life as possible from his father and mother.
Whatever he turned his hand to he did with a willpower few people
possess. IRA was a favorite with the young people of the different
neighborhoods in which he lived. By his death our community has lost
one of its noblest and best young men.

The funeral was conducted by the writer at Elk Chapel and interment was
made at Elk Cemetery. A great throng of friends collected to express
their sympathy for the bereaved and their respect and love for the
deceased.
