Does anyone know what years the ROUND KNOLL UNITED BRETHREN CHURCH AND
ROUND KNOLL SCHOOL were in use? I know (from an l894 Long Creek
Township; Decatur Co., IA. map that I have) that it was about 3-4 miles
northwest of Van Wert. It's shown as School No. 5. My grandmother,
ELSIE LOU VADA (PRICE) MCMURTREY taught school there, however, I don't
know how long she did. I didn't know this until I found the following
article:
------------------------------------

Decatur County Journal
March l2, l903

VAN WERT NEWS: Miss PRICE expects to teach the Round Knoll School again
this spring. She was visiting her friends, Mary Johnson and Ethel
Fierce last week.
------------------------------------

Apparently, Round Knoll might have been a small community at one time?
My MCMURTREYS had 80 acres right next to the Round Knoll School,
according to the l894 map.

I would really like to know the history of ROUND KNOLL; apparently the
church (which was probably in the school) closed at some point and the
people went to the Methodist Episcopal Church after that.

Thanks for any and ALL help!! Nancee 'List Granny'
