The people of Turon and vicinity were surprised and saddened Sunday afternoon when word was passed out that JIM WOOD died at 2:30 that afternoon.

MR. WOOD had lived in Turon and vicinity ever since coming to Kansas, and he was always a man of his word, a good neighbor, and a kindly friend and helper in times of sickness and need. His passing is mourned by all who knew him, and who lived with him, and the bereaved relatives have the sympathy of all our people.

JAMES HENRY WOOD, son of JACOB and LUCRETIA WOOD, was born June l4, l864, in Decatur County, Iowa, and died at his home near Turon, Kansas, October l9, l924, aged 60 years, 4 months and 5 days.

He came to Kansas in l887. On February l2, l889, he was married to MISS EMMA LEE. She departed this life June 5, l9l2.

After the death of his first wife, he was again married to MARY SANDS, of Salem, Indiana, in the summer of l9l6. Although he had no children of his own, he raised ORA HOBBS from a child of 3 months old, who has been as devoted to him as a son could have been.

JAMES H. WOOD was baptized and became a member of the Christian Church at Turon in l9l7. He was a member of the Masonic Odd Fellow and Modern Woodmen Organizations. He leaves to mourn his death, his mother, MRS. LUCRETIA WOOD, ORA L. HOBBS, four brothers, WILLIAM and JOHN WOOD, of Weldon, Iowa; OSCAR WOOD, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and BART WOOD, of St. John, Kansas, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the residence, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, by Rev. H.T. Purcell of Pratt, assisted by Turon Lodge No. 330, I.O.O.F. and the remains laid to rest in the Langdon Cemetery by the side of his first wife.
