Reformed Latter Day Saints - It is largest group of "Mormons" outside of
Utah and at one time had it's religious center in Lamoni, IA. Not all
the Mormons that left Nauvoo, IL went on to Utah with Brigham Young.
Many stopped in Iowa and Missouri and because they were cut off from the
larger group, they didn't develop some of he later teachings of the LDS
group, such as temple work and some sacrament beliefs This is why they
use the word "Reformed" in their name, to separate their teachings.
The main reason for leaving was these didn't think Brighan Young should
be the leader of the Church because he made severe changes in the long
term Plans of the Church and that they should wait for Young Joseph
Smith to grow old enough to lead the Church!
I have an Uncle that was born in UT at this time July 23, 1867, Ogden,
Weber Co., Utah and his parents actually had to sneek the two children
out and They walked out and met the two children at Afton, IA at the
railroad! The parents were Charles John Andersson m Anna Christian
Swensson she was born Sweden they were parents of Hyram Anderson m
Lillie B. Hall the first to be born of my Hall's in Iowa. Lillie and
Hyram had two sons Georg and Fay! The descendants of Georg and Lena are
still in the Chrisian Comminity, yet today! Or one is for sure!
