Subject: [IADECATU] BRIGHAM YOUNG'S FAMILY.
Date: Tue, 2 Sep 2003 23:02:50 EDT
You're right, Nancee, it isn't all true...
My maternal great great grandmother's sister, Miriam Angeline Works, was
Brigham Young's first wife, back in New York, before he ever started on his
religious trek west. She was the mother of Brigham's daughters Elizabeth and
Vilate, his two eldest children. This connects to Decatur County in that
Miriam's sister, Parthenia, born in N.Y. 1811, (died in Pleasanton in 1893) married
Lorenzo Dow Boothe, and they were the parents of my great grandmother,
Angeline Boothe Dennis, wife of Adam Dennis. Angeline and Adam were the parents of
George Wesley Dennis, my grandfather, who married Louisa Burrell, of the
Decatur Co. Burrells, and they were my mother's parents. Adam and Angeline Dennis
are listed on the Decatur County Website in the early LDS Church documents.
See following information from the familysearch.org (LDS) website regarding
Miriam Works. That site also shows that Brigham did indeed have a number of
wives.
