PERSONAL.

Geo. M. MILLER was home with his family Tuesday.

Miss Jet GORDON returned home the first of the week.

Frank GOYEN started for the World's Fair Sunday evening.

Will RUSSELL arrived from Peoria Sunday on a visit to friends here.

M. V. STEWART returned from Des Moines Monday and went to Tingley the next
day.

Mrs. John W. HARVEY of Leon, visited her friend, Mrs. J. L. YOUNG, over
Thursday night.

A. C. MINTONYE came up from Ridgway Saturday. Alvero says he expect to
remain in Iowa.

C. F. BABCOCK of Leon is here this week in the interest of a farm plat book
of this county.

Mr. ANDERSON of Salt Lake City visited his wife's parents, Maj and Mrs.
MUDGETT, last week.

B. F. ALEN went to Burlington Tuesday and commenced yesterday evening as
railway mail clerk.

Two sisters of Mrs. John MCKIBBEN are visiting her and family. They reside
in Ohio and came last Friday.

Sheriff LAFOLLETT of Leon was in town over Tuesday night. He says he hasn't
heard from his pantaloons.

Rev. John WRIGHT of Dexter is with his father again this week. Geo. STILLER
returned to his home at Norwalk, Monday.

I. N. MCPHERRIN was at Clarinda last week, called there by the sickness of
his father, mother and sister. They are reported better.

David SMITH started to Las Vegas, New Mexico, Tuesday, where he expects to
remain about three months in the hope of bettering his health.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph CULVER are in the "White City." They went last week and
will remain a couple of weeks. Harry came home Sunday.

Mrs. S. F. RAMSEY and daughter, Lilly, of Pleasantville, came Friday on a
visit to Mrs. RAMSEY's parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. B. AMOS and her sisters.

Dr. TODD came down from Chariton Friday and he and Dr. CONE performed a
delicate surgical operation on Mrs. Robt. MCCAULL. She is getting along nicely.

Justin YOUNG died at his home in Blythedale Monday morning of consumption.
His brother Will and sister, Mrs. I. S. MALLETE, attended the funeral.

J. F. HITCHCOCK and Rev. T. G. ATEN went to Davis City Tuesday afternoon to
attend District Conference. The Conference would have been held at this place
but for Rev. WRIGHT's illness.

Mr. and Mrs. A. B. STEARNS and son Lew and Mrs. S. H. AMOS from Garden Grove,
and Mr. and Mrs. L. P. SIGLER and others from Leon, expect to start to the
World's Fair next Monday to be gone a couple of weeks.

Messrs. DYE, ALBAUGH, and SPRINGER constituting the board of supervisor of
this county and their bridge Supt. LEEPER were in town yesterday. They are on a
tour of bridge inspection over the county. Our board is made up of good
level headed business men who have the interests of the county at heart.
