HOME NEWS.
Geo. W. BAKER, county attorney, was in town Thursday.
Mr. J. F. GUNSOLLY, formerly of Lamoni, removed Monday to Rolfe, Iowa, where
he will engage in work in a flouring mill.
It all came no doubt from so much talk about a nice fall. Sunday it rained;
Sunday night it rained and blew; Monday it rained, blew and snowed, sleeted,
etc., etc.
A stubborn cough or tickling in the throat yields to One Minute Cough Cure.
Harmless in effect, touches the right spot, reliable and just what is wanted.
It acts at once.
One party in Lamoni had green beans last week, another had greens week before
last; and we all had snow this week. Our '98 is keeping well up with its
record for changes.
Alma MCCALLUM, a soldier boy of the 3d Missouri Infantry, encamped near
Independence, Missouri, came home on furlough Thursday and returned Sunday. He
belongs to the regimental band.
When you call for De Witt's Witch Hazel Salve the great pile cure, don't
accept anything else. Don't be talked into accepting a substitute for piles, for
sores, for burns. C. H. BARROWS.
That Monster pear you see in our window was brought us by Ray NICHOLSON and
the tree on which it grew is his, and stands in his father's yard. It's a fine
one. Do you have any that are bigger or better?
Winfred KELLEY, another Lamoni soldier boy, came in Thursday, in charge of
his brother Ed. He looked but a faint resemblance of the laughing, strong,
jolly boy that went away but a few months ago. Winfred has seen service, if he
did not actually get into battle.
Old fashions in dress may be revived but no old-fashioned medicine can
replace Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and diarrhea Remedy. - For sale by C. H.
BARROWS.
Col. HEPBURN is billed to speak here the evening of October 21. Let every
body give him a respectful hearing. You can not know what a man is or what he
has to say in his own defense by staying at home and refusing to hear him.
Truth never suffers by giving everything and everybody a full hearing.
A great record of cures; unequaled in medical history, proves Hood's
Sarsaparilla possesses merit unknown by any other medicine.
More than twenty million free samples of De Witt's Witch Hazel Salve have
been distributed by the manufacturers. What better proof of their confidence in
its merits do you want? It cures piles, burns, scalds, sores, in the shortest
space of time. C. H. BARROWS.
The first frost of the season visited us Thursday night, whitening walks and
nipping tender vegtation(sic). Never mind, it won't be long till the season
of opening buds again. Fall and winter have their charms, and the changing
seasons are grand in their usefulness and beauty, if our minds are attuned to see
it and feel it.
