Hi all,

Lorie Brill contacted me regarding a question on L. D. Mitchell. If connected
or know please contact her at:
(that is an "L" before the "b")

Thanks, Deborah

Can you tell me if L.D. Mitchell was the son of Martin Luther Mitchell and
Martha “Patsy’ Clark. Martin and Patsy had a son named Irvin Smith Mitchell who
was also born 1830 in Ohio and lived in Decatur co., Iowa. Thanks, Lori

The Davis City Advance, Davis City, Iowa
Thursday, May 3l, l900

L.D. MITCHELL was born July 22, l83l, near Zanesville, Muskingum Co., Ohio,
and died at his home just north of Davis City on May l8, l900, after an illness
of about six weeks.

He was married to MISS CATHARINE MEEK December l9, l843, and she died August
27, l899. To this union were born ten children, nine of whom are still living,
and eight were at his bedside when he died. In l856 MR. MITCHELL came to Iowa
by team, first locating in Madison County, remaining l5 l/2 months. In the
spring of l858 he came to Decatur County and settled in Eden Township where he
improved a 40-acre farm. He sold this farm and bought the farm in Burrell
Township where he has ever since resided and followed general farming and stock
raising.

MR. MITCHELL had been a member of the Christian Church for over thirty years
and has served as Elder since the organization at this place. He was an
upright man, a good citizen, and faithful Christian.

Interment was made in Eden Cemetery by the side of his wife.
