On my father's side, my great grandfather Benjamin Franklin McDaniel's
heritage goes back to Samuel Cornet Lincoln, my 8-great-grandfather, born in
England in 1619 and died 5-26-1690 in MA. Great-grandpa's wife, Cynthia Jane
Patteson descends back to William Warriner, my 9-great-grandfather who was
born 1615 in England and died 6-2-1676 in Sprinfield, MA. Cynthia also
descended from Rowland and Sarah Whiting Stebbins, my 10-great-grandparents.
The whole family were on the passenger list of the "Francis" that sailed
from Ipswich, Suffolk, England to Boston April/June 1634.

On my mother's side, my great grandmother, Mary "Prude"nce Flanagan's
heritage goes back to John and Elizabeth Burdit Hamilton, my
9-great-grandparents, who came directly from Scotland and arrived 1674 in
the Port Tobacco District of Charles Co., MD. Her husband, my great
grandfather, James Doyle Snethen descends from Nicholas (Claeys or Claes)
Sneden, my 6-great-grandfather. Claes Sneden ("Claes Sudeich" according to
one interpretation of the handwritten ship passenger list transcripts) came
to New Amsterdam in December 1657 on the St. Jean Baptiste under Captain
Symon Claesen bound for the Dutch settlement of New Amstel (later called New
Castle) on the Delaware River.

Whew! That took some digging around! Was worth every bit of it to see who
survived those early years to give us the heritage we have today.

Subject: [IADECATU] Thanksgiving Roll Call

The Veterans' recognition roll call went very well. Thanks to all of you
for participating and thanks to all of those veterans and those presently
serving our country!

Another holiday is fast approaching. Let's liven up this list again by
trying another approach to a roll call. This is something I have never tried

Let's try listing any of our ancestors who eventually settled in Decatur
County whose families came over to America in the 1600's. Especially if
their
families came on the Mayflower or one of those early ships and may have
participated in one of the early Thanksgiving feasts of that day.

My Talcott family would be the only ones that would qualify here.

My great grandmother, Mary Ellen Talcott whose heritage goes back to John
Talcott married John Allen whose family lived in Lamoni. John Talcott came
to
America from England in the 1600's on the ship Lyons. John Allen's family
also came to America from England, but in the 1850's.
