George Curtis Burrell third son of James and Louisa Burrell was born in
Davis City, Iowa, April 11, 1881, and lived his entire life in and around
Davis City with the exception of nine years in Indianola, Iowa and five
years in Greely, Colorado.
He passed away with a heart ailment, Sunday, May 25th, at the home of his
friend, Earld Scott, where he had gone to pass the time of day as was his
custom of friendliness and neighborly acts.
He, with his sister Roxena, spent eleven years in caring for their aged
father who was bedfast the entire time and this continued nursing was the
result of his failing health.
He leaves to mourn his passing one brother, E.S. Burrell, of Davis City;
four sisters, namely, Mrs. C.B.Simpson, of Leon, Iowa; Mrs. George W.
Pryor, of Shrevesport, La.; Mrs. W.W. Benjamin, of Albia, Iowa; and Roxena
of the home as well as a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives
and friends.
He became a member of the Apostilic church early in life and remained in
that faith until his death.
Curt was a faithful son and brother to each member of the family and a
loyal, quiet citizen, always ready and willing to do for others with a
cheerful smile.
He will be greatly missed by the entire community for the good deeds he has
performed and all his friends wish to bid him, Farewell.
Services in charge of Stewart Funeral Home were held from the Methodist
church at Davis City, Iowa, Tuesday, May 27, 1947, at 2:30 o'clock p.m.,
conducted by the Rev. George R. Lamb.
Interment being made in the old cemetery at Davis City, Iowa.
