Hello, I am hitting a brick wall with these two individuals. I have a
great aunt, Sofronia/Sophonla Pearl Griffith. b. March 03, 1870 in
Milford, IA. She married a _____ GATES on Aug. 4, 1894 (according to
family record) in Maquoketa, Jackson Co., IA. I can not find the groom's
first name and it seems they dropped off the face the earth. The next
time anything is heard from Pearl (she went by Pearl or LaPearl) she is
living in Chicago, IL. 1931-1936. I can not find any record or any
information about her. I am not sure of her exact first name. In the
1870 census, her name is Safionla and the 1880 census, she is Perl. I
can not find anything on her husbands first name ? GATES. Would there
be birth records or marriage records available at the county level? I
already tried at the state level and came up empty handed. Her parents
were Geo & Eunice Griffith.
Any ideas?
