The following is listed on e-bay ... this is not an advertisement for e-bay, simply alerting the list members of a copy that is available for purchase.

This is the "Fayette County, Iowa Portrait and Biographical Album", an enormous volume of 700 pages, filled with the
biographical sketches. It was published in 1891 by Lake City Publishing Company of Chicago. The book begins with the 1st
23 U.S. Presidents, through Benjamin Harrison, each with a full-page lithograph portrait and 2 page biography. Following are
the Governors of Iowa, starting with Ansel Briggs through Horach Boies. After a 4 page introduction to Fayette County, the
last over 530 pages are devoted to biographical scetches of notable citizens of Fayette County. Many include full-page
protraits, some add views of their property. The index lists the names of more than 450 citizens, names almost 80 full-page
portraits and about 15 views of property, several with more than one to a page. The cover boards are thick and beveled. You
should know that, although the cover looks fairly nice it is separated from the signature contents and will need
rebinding with sewing and reattachment . The book is extremely heavy and the leather has been rubbed on the most
exposed edges.

Any of the cities, towns and villages currently showing on the map forFayette County could be included in the
county-wide biographies or portraits. Fayette County is in northeast Iowa. It would include the following cities or
towns [some now nearly 'off the map'] : Oelwein, Arlington, Taylorville, Wadena, Fayette, Randalia, Maynard,
Westgate, Hawkeye, Donnan, Brainard, Oray, Fairbank, Waucoma, St. Lucas, Eldorado, Clermont, West Union,
Elgin, West Gate, Alpha, Richfield, Dover Mills, Illyria, Lima, Albany, Maryville, Scott and West Cedar Rapids.
