FYI.--Four Bartholomew's figure in the early Kanesville Land Office records: Aaron, Levi Y., John and Samuel. Three of the four entered land, and since their certificate numbers are 128, 129 and 131, one might guess they appeared together at the land office.

# 128.--Aaron Bartholomew's pre-emtion witness was Levi Y. Bartholomew who said Aaron had a wife and children, that his land was fenced and plowed, and that that he had emigrated from Illinois. Period.

#131.--John Bartholomew received a patent for the land he entered, and this patent is in his folder in Washington, D.C., land office records. His pre-emption witness was Aaron Bartholomew who said John had "wife and children; a home and another house was on the land, that John had come from Illinois. Witness further sayd THAT John Woodward formerly of said county, who filed Declaratory Statement No. 688, upon the same quarter, has no family, and told witness he did not intend to prove up and enter said land and about the tenth day of this month (May) started for California".

John Bartholomew appears on the 1854 county census of Fremont.

#129.--Samuel Bartholomew's pre-emption claim witness was John Bartholomew who said Samuel had wife and children, and had come from Illinois". Period.
