THE FREMONT COUNTY HERALD. January 24, 1908. E.F. GARNSEY DEAD.--After a brief illness with pneumonia fever, E. F. Garnsey died Monday evening January 20, 1908, aged 71 years 8 months and 16 days. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. H. Shipman Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
E. F. Garnsey was born at Battle Creek, Michigan, April 4, 1836. His early life was spent on the Erie canal and railroad. In 1864 he was married to Josephine Rector. To this union were born nine children, seven of whom are now living. In 1872 he moved to Adams county, Nebraska from there to Peru, Nebraska in 1860, from Peru to Sidney in 1882 since which time he has resided here continuously. Mr. Garnsey's first wife died May 20, 1886. On September 5, 1898 he was married to Mrs. Mary J. Leighton who survives him.
Gail: The date which is given in "G" Deaths on Rootsweb's Fremont county is probably the correct one--not Mar. 20, 1908. I have not identified Josephine Rector, but her age indicates she might be from the first generation of Rectors in Fremont county.--Walter
