THE SIDNEY ARGUS-HERALD. February 2, 1939. "FORMER BUSINESS MAN OBSERVES 93RD BIRTHDAY".--The years have touched lightly A. P. Stafford, Nebraska City business man, former resident of Sidney and Hamburg, who celebrated his ninety-third birth anniversary Friday, Jan. 27, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mabel Wilson, at Nebraska City. The writer has the pleasure of seeing Mr. Stafford quite frequently when in Nebraska City, and he seldom fails to mention the days when he served as county auditor of Fremont county, and the friends he still remembers from that far off time.

Mr. Stafford's service to the county was in the early eighties, when he served two or three terms and lived with his wife and three daughters, Myrtle, Mabel and Eve, in the old Baptist parsonage, and later on south Main street. Mrs. Stafford has been dead several years. One daughter, Mrs. Franklin Peterson, nee Myrtle Stafford, lives at Lake Bluff, Ill. Eve, now Mrs. Arthur Ginn, is located at Los Angeles, California.

Mr. Stafford is the oldest Mason in the Nebraska City lodge, having joined the Hamburg lodge as a charter member in 1868. He still continues his insurance business, and has his office at the Nebraska City National bank, where his grandson, William Wilson, is president, suceeding his father, Harry Wilson, who passed away several years ago.
