THE FREMONT COUNTY HERALD. January 17, 1908. "Thurman News".--Two new automobiles from Nebraska City passed through town last Monday.
N.B.: How much should be made from this bit of news? Can one safely say that it was news in 1908 if two automobiles all the way from Nebraska City showed up in Thurman? Thurman had had automobiles for some time; see "Charley Paul". Early in the 1920's, papers would yet chronicle which state was represented by the automobiles which had passed through during the past week. Local automobile owners were ignored by this time.--W.F.
